Uganda registered the lowest positivity rate in weeks as the country continues to battle the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This follows new measures including a total lockdown that has reduced crowding in many places in the country.
According to the latest update of the Covid-19 situation in the country, Uganda’s positivity rate now stands at 10.9 percent, dropping from 11.6 percent on Saturday.
Positivity rate is the number of people found to be living with the virus out of every 100 people tested for Covid-19.
According to the Ministry of Health, out of the 8,174 test samples taken on June 25, a total of 889 people were found to have the virus.
Cumulatively, this means Uganda has now had 78,394 Covid-19 infections since the first case was recorded in March.
However, despite the positive news, there some concerns, too, because deaths from the virus have remained high, with Uganda registering 35 deaths (in 24 hours).
As well, hospital admissions recorded on Sunday have not shown any signs of dropping and were reported at 1,230. For context, there were 997 hospital admissions on Wednesday.
In terms of infections in a 24-hour period, Kampala had 382; Wakiso, 195; Jinja, 26; Soroti, 24; Mbale, 22; Masindi, 18; Luwero, 18; Kisoro, 17; Zombo, 15; Lumi, 14; Mbarara, 13; Iganga, 11; Gulu , 10; Paliisa, 9; Mukono, 9; Kayuga, 8; Bushenyi, 8; Mayuge, 8 and Ngora, 7.
Nakapiripirit had 7; Sheema, 5; Kapchorwa, 5; Mpigi, 5; Masaka, 5; Kyotrea, 5; Nabitaluk, 4; Amuria, 3; Packwach, 3; Kaliro, 3; Sembabule, 3; Lamwo, 2; Kalungu, 2; Kanungu, 2; Buvuma, 2; katakwi, 1; Gomba, 1; Mukono, 1; Kabarole, 1; Arua, 1; Hoima, 1; Kween, 1 and Buyende, 1.Ntungamo, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Tororo, Isingiro and Kyotera had one each.
