The State Minister Youth and Children Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi on Sunday April 4, stormed out of the Saint Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga as National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu got to the podium to address mourners who had gathered for the mass of fallen Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

Nakiwala who declined to speak to reporters on why she walked out is a victim of a stunning wave that saw cabinet and state ministers from Buganda defeated by opposition candidates, in particular those from Kyagulanyi’s NUP.

NUP especially swept the central region that includes the capital, Kampala in a development that saw over 30 NRM MPs including many Nakiwala and her husband Bbosa Kiyingi lose.

NUP won 58 seats in the new parliament.

Minister Nakiwala Kiyingi lost to Veronica Nanyondo, of NUP.
