Uganda Starts Vaccination Against COVID-19

The Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, has today received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as Uganda launched the vaccination against the deadly COVID-19 virus.

The launch was held at the Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital at Mulago.

Aceng was followed by health Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine and Director General of Health Services Henry Mwebesa.

Shortly after receiving the jabs, this is what some of the leaders had to say:

Aceng: I have just had my jab. It was not painful. I am not feeling anything funny. Most importantly, I have taken a step to protect myself and I encourage every eligible Ugandan to take the vaccine.

Health state minister for general duties, Robinah Nabbanja: I feel fine. Our fellow Ugandans should summon the courage to take the vaccine.

This illness is new. There is just a little pain that comes with the prick but the benefits are many. It is just like giving birth; you may feel some pain but the results are invaluable.

UNICEF Country Representative, Dr. Munir Safieldin: I feel fine and I am happy that the vaccines are now available in Uganda. I encourage everyone who is eligible to take the jab. Covid-19 vaccines are safe; they save lives.
