Uganda’s COVID-19 cases reach 616

The confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased by 23 in Uganda following tests done on Saturday.

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday evening that the number of confirmed cases had reached 616.

According to the ministry, the new cases include “Seven truck drivers from Elegu, Mutukula and Mirama Hills points of entry”.

Two cases of a security personnel from Elegu and a frontline health worker were part of the results confirmed on Saturday.

The ministry added: “14 cases are from contacts and alerts from; Kyotera, Adjumani, Tororo and Amuru districts.”

“47 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 were handed over to their countries of origin,” the ministry said in a tweet.

Uganda has not yet registered any death related to COVID-19 while the total recoveries stand at 96.
