Gen Tumwine Cautions Angina on Misuse of Security Forces

The Minister for Security Gen. Elly Tumwine on Friday rebuked Lt. Gen Charles Angina – the Deputy Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation over his decision to drag the army and police into the destruction of a wall belonging to Hotel International owned by City businessman Godfrey Kirumira.

Gen Tumwine visited Muyenga after Angina reportedly deployed soldiers and police and was sighted supervising the destruction of the wall of the hotel and building another wall inside the property that is said to belong to Kirumira.

Gen Tumwine condemned the actions by Angina noting that the national army and police should never be dragged into personal matters.

“Why do it during the night and not during the day. Don’t abuse our forces. We all have wrangles and disagreements but we don’t use the force like this. We have worked so hard to preserve the image of our force and this is a small matter that should have been handled amicably. Where are the KCCA letters showing the boundary? It should have been KCCA doing enforcement, not you. You are just using your personal interest here,” Tumwine told Angina in a video that has been circulating on social media.

In an interview with government-owned New Vision, Gen Tumwine noted that he had received a call from the local residents in Muyenga at around 7:00 pm after he had landed at the airport.

“I received a call from the local residents that Gen. Angina together with the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Field Forces Commander Senior Superintendent of Police, Rashid Agero had brought in graders at 3:00 am and with impunity they were destroying a wall of a hotel belonging to Kirumira,” Tumwine said.
