UPDF Communication Officers Urged to Uphold Professionalism

UPDF Senior Communication Officers have been urged to uphold the best practices and professionalism as they execute their duty.

This call was made by the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Undersecretary for Finance and Administration Mrs. Edith Buturo while representing the permanent Secretary Mrs. Rosette Byengoma at the closing of a strategic communication and media training for 34 officers conducted at Rivonia Suites in Mbuya.

In her remarks, she encouraged the participants to uphold best practices, professionalism and maintain discipline in their formations and units to maintain the good image of UPDF.

Mrs. Buturo encouraged participants to use the acquired skills and knowledge to improve service delivery with both the UPDF and that of the wider government.

She noted that the training strengthens the image of UPDF and builds confidence among participants as they share experiences.

The Defence Ministry UnderSecretary Commended the UK Joint Instruction Activity Group (JIAG ) for supporting the training, saying that the act is a demonstration of the close relationship between Uganda and the UK .

The UK Chief instructor Flight Lieutenant Chester Myers lauded participants for the enthusiasm to learn throughout the week-long training.

“We have enjoyed our stay in Uganda and we have learned a lot from our Ugandan colleagues,” he added.

The Defence Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire thanked the UPDF leadership for supporting the training.

He further noted that continuous training improves performance and leads to efficiency.
He said he was hopeful the training would bear fruits sooner than later.

The ceremony which concluded with awarding of certificates to participants and mementos to instructors was attended by a representative of the British High Commission in Uganda as well as the President of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) Ms. Sarah Kagingo .
