Police’s Flying Squad has arrested the second suspect in the brutal murder of Derrick Mulindwa a bodaboda cyclist who was murdered by two men who had hired him to take them to Kakyeka Mengo in Lubaga Division in Kampala on June 30.

The man only known as Young Mulo (not the singer) was arrested from Mpigi where he had fled after escaping from Mulago Hospital where he had been admitted after the Police rescued him from a mob on July 3.

Police spokesman Fred Enanga says the suspect was arrested after his co-accused, John Bosco Mugisha, was arrested at Nsike 1, Ndeeba, Rubaga Division on Tuesday night gave them leads about his hideout.

Mulindwa’s gruesome murder was caught on CCTV footage.

Mugisha had earlier told the Police that Mulo was killed by a mob on the suspicion that they had stolen a motorbike.

Mugisha told the Police that they had stolen a motorcycle in Mityana on July 2, 2019, and they were traced up to Makindye in Kampala where a mob pounced on them, killing his colleague but he was able to escape and went to his hideout in Kabale.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango noted that Mugisha had been arrested several times and had been to Luzira Prison on charges of robbery and theft before.

On June 30, 2019, Mugisha and his Mulo murdered Mulindwa a resident of Nabweru who they hit several times on the head using a piece of metal they had hidden in Kakyeka, Mengo in Rubaga Division in Kampala.

Mugisha confessed that they hired Mulindwa at around 4 am and attacked him shortly after the motorcycle had stopped.

Mugisha grabbed Mulindwa by the neck and choked him as his colleague held the motorcycle.

Mulo parked the motorcycle and used the metallic object to hit Mulindwa on the head after pulling off his helmet. They later fled using Mulindwa’s motorcycle.

Earlier footage from the same scene showed the two suspects surveying the area and hiding the murder weapon before they wooed Mulindwa.
