Passenger and cargo traffic at Entebbe International Airport registered significant growth in February 2026.

According to airport traffic statistics, the airport recorded 189,575 international passengers during the month. These included 90,007 arrivals and 99,568 departures, translating into an average of about 6,770 passengers arriving or departing daily.

The February figure represents a sharp increase of 39,387 passengers compared to January 2026, when the airport handled 150,188 passengers.

The latest figures also indicate notable growth when compared to the same period last year. In February 2025, the airport recorded 159,503 international passengers, including 73,524 arrivals and 85,979 departures. This means February 2026 registered 30,072 more passengers than the same month in 2025.

Cargo traffic also recorded steady growth during the period. In February 2026, the airport handled 2,955 metric tonnes of exports and 1,543 metric tonnes of imports, bringing the total cargo volume to 4,498 metric tonnes.

This marks an increase from January 2026, when the airport handled 3,982 metric tonnes of cargo.

Compared to the same month last year, cargo volumes also rose. In February 2025, the airport handled 3,157 metric tonnes of exports and 1,389 metric tonnes of imports, showing continued growth in Uganda’s air cargo sector.

Officials say the sustained rise in passenger and cargo traffic signals continued recovery and strengthening demand for air transport services.

However, aviation authorities have warned that traffic volumes may decline slightly in the coming weeks. This follows disruptions in international flight routes after parts of Middle East airspace were closed on February 28, 2026, affecting several operators flying from Entebbe.

As a result, passenger and cargo traffic for March 2026 is expected to be lower as airlines gradually resume normal operations.
