The Uganda Digital Society with the mandate of pioneering Uganda’s digital future has advised women in the digital community and careers to protect their mental health, priotise competence and monetize their skills because sustainability in the digital careers require strategy and self-care.

During Women in Digital event held at Kyaddondo road in Kampala organized by Uganda Digital Society alongside sponsors women were highly encouraged to put mental health at the forefront of their career as a non negotiable, set boundaries to protect their energy and and from burnout. “In summary protect your mental health, priotise competence, seek mentorship, invest in learning and monetize your skills, sustainability will require strategy and self care” said Sanya Mirembe the Digital Communication Officer at Diamond Trust Bank. “Have mentors continually, up skill and stay update with market standards to unlock opportunities”  Sanya Mirembe added.

The women in Digital explored ways of investing in Personal growth, equipping themselves with substance, knowledge that compounds over time clarity about value that attracts opportunities and builds credibility.

The mental health situation in Uganda is in a critical State with roughly 32% of the population according to statistics associated with depression, anxiety and heavily driven by poverty, trauma and high alcohol consumption.
Priotising mental health comes with physical wellbeing, health working relationships and the ability to connect with others, productivity at workplaces fostering a better quality of life and community participation.
