President Museveni has urged Ugandan traders and exporters to make products that meet international standards to help reduce barriers to trade, ensure fair competition and also facilitate transactions for business operating globally.

This was contained in a speech read for him by the Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo during the opening ceremony of International Business Week currently happening at Speke Resort Munyoyo. The convention has brought together trade delegations from United States, China, Nigeria, Serbia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana with the aim to meet, connect, trade and showcase Uganda’s best export ready brands, to boost long term global demand and reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to stronger exports and global trade links.

” I urge all Ugandan exporters to make products that meet international standards and create standards for products and services that help reduce technical barriers to trade and increase market opportunities for business particularly in developing countries, read the statement from President Museveni.

‘The main focus of this week is to consolidate the efforts aimed at turning interest into actual orders and orders into enduring partnerships that can result into jobs and incomes for our people and an opportunity to highlight Uganda’s strategic advantage as a gateway to East and Central Africa, said Museveni.

The Uganda international Buyers Week was created with the objective to facilitate direct linkages and trade deals between Ugandan Exporters and Global Buyers, position Uganda’s trade representatives as enablers of international business and long term market entry and provide a vibrant market place for buyers, diaspora consumers and the public to discover Uganda’s export offerings, build confidence in Uganda’s traceability, packaging logistics and compliance systems and also to promote connect cafe’s and hubs as platforms for sustained market access.

The event is also an opportunity for international business players for networking and taste Uganda’s hospitality and export ambition and collaboration.
