The capital Markets Authority of Uganda in partnership with with Uganda Financial Literacy Association has conducted a financial literacy training targeting trainers for Northern Uganda region in Gulu city with over 70 trainers from districts such as Pader, Agago, Kitgum, Arua, Packwach and Gulu.
The training was part of of the Capital Markets Authority commitment to its awareness efforts to equip communities with practical knowledge on personal finance, saving, investment and safely navigating Uganda’s capital Markets.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Markets Authority Josephine Okui Ossiya emphasized the central role of investor education on capital Markets in Uganda’s economic transformation. “Investor education is the starting point for meaningful participation in the capital Markets and when Ugandans understand how to identify licensed players, evaluate investment opportunities and avoid investment scams, they are better positioned to build Long term financial security, said Josephine Okui Ossiya.
“Our market offers a range of regulated investment products that Ugandans can safely access including collective investment schemes like unit trust, government and corporate bonds, equities like shares listed on Uganda securities exchange and Lincesed investment advisors and fund managers who guide these decisions, Josephine Okui added
The financial literacy association chairperson Daniel Ayebare underscored regional outreach in Uganda’s economic transformation ” Financial Literacy is not a privilege for a few but necessity for us all and as Uganda financial Literacy association we are calling into various regions across the country and this demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that every Ugandan can participate confidently in Uganda’s economic transformation, Daniel Ayebare said.
Representing the government as the Chief guest was Resident City Commissioner Onoria Ambrose who commended Capital Markets Authority and Uganda Financial Literacy Association for advancing financial Literacy at the grassroot and Lynn Tukei the Head of Public Relations and Communication at Capital Markets Authority emphasized Capital Markets Authority’s commitment in taking investor education to every region.
