Hundreds of young people in Busia District have declared firm support for President Yoweri Museveni, dismissing what they described as attempts by foreign actors to influence Uganda’s youth through confrontational activism.

The group, mobilised under Gen Z for Gen 7 and led by National Coordinator Israel Kyarisiima, gathered to welcome the NRM flag bearer during his campaign visit to the district. The young leaders said the movement has been organising across the country to promote what they call ideological clarity, patriotism and an understanding of the historical context behind Uganda’s stability.

They argued that foreign-inspired trends circulating among some Kenyan youth would not take root among Ugandans committed to development and national peace. “We’re not here for imported drama. We’re here to build the Uganda we want,” one youth leader said, insisting that the group would not entertain what they termed foreign-engineered chaos or ideologically confused activism.

The movement said its support for Museveni is based on achievements they identify in peace and security, economic growth, infrastructure expansion, digital transformation and youth-focused programmes. They argued that these gains must be defended and expanded rather than risked through what they see as destabilising political pressures.

Under Kyarisiima’s leadership, Gen Z for Gen M7 has positioned itself as a structured network focused on digital political education, youth mobilisation, ideology-driven activism, countering misinformation and promoting patriotism. The group said it is ready to champion innovation, science, technology and industrial advancement as central pillars of Uganda’s future.

They concluded that Busia’s message to the country is one of unity, stability and rejection of external ideological influence, affirming their loyalty to the NRM candidate as the election period intensifies.
