Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially begun the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, marking the final national examination cycle of the year.

The Exams that start on November 7 with a briefing, conclude on December 05, 2025. According to UNEB, two separate exams are currently ongoing including the UCE and UACE. The PLE concluded on Wednesday this week.

UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo confirmed that 166,402 candidates are sitting for UACE across 2,844 examination centres countrywide,  an increase of more than 20,000 candidates compared to last year.

“This year we have registered a total of one hundred and sixty-six thousand four hundred and two candidates, compared to one hundred and forty-one thousand nine hundred and ninety-six last year. This is a significant increase of over 20,000 candidates,”
Odongo said.

Of the total candidates, 77,772 are female (44%), while 93,630 are male (56%). Odongo noted that although females outnumbered males in PLE and UCE, their numbers drop significantly at A–level.

He further revealed that 42,328 candidates are beneficiaries of the government’s UPOLET programme, while 124,074 are privately sponsored.

Odongo encouraged candidates to remain calm and have confidence in their preparation.

“You have been prepared over the last two years. Nothing in the examination room will be strange. The questions are drawn from what you have been learning. Remain confident and follow instructions,”
Odongo said.

He also thanked schools and candidates for cooperating during the earlier PLE and UCE examinations, especially amidst the ongoing political campaign season.

“Since rallies started across the country, we have not had any incident where examinations were disrupted. We encourage organisers to continue being mindful,” he added.

Odongo also called on religious leaders, parents, and well-wishers to continue praying for the candidates.
