Uganda has officially confirmed its readiness to host the 15th Edition of the East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games, with all major logistical, medical, and venue preparations now complete ahead of the December 2025 kickoff.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, Member of Parliament for Bugiri Municipality, announced that every key venue has been inspected and approved, medical partners secured, and hospitality arrangements finalized.

“We are ready to host East Africa. Uganda is prepared both in facilities and spirit. We look forward to welcoming our brothers and sisters from across the region. The list of approved hotels for accommodation has been finalized and shared with all delegations.” Hon. Basalirwa declared while addressing journalists on Monday, November 3, 2025.

The regional games, running from December 5 to 17, 2025, will take place across major sports venues in Kampala, including Philip Omondi Stadium (Lugogo), Hams Stadium, Wankulukuku Stadium, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, and Namboole Stadium. Golf competitions will be staged at Kampala Golf Club and Serena Golf Resort, Kigo.

In addition to logistics, the LOC confirmed full medical preparedness for the tournament, with hospitals such as Kampala Hospital, Nakasero Hospital, Aga Khan, and International Hospital Kampala (IHK) already on board. Mulago and Nsambya Hospitals are also expected to join the network of health partners providing emergency and standby medical services.

“These hospitals have agreed to partner with us to offer comprehensive medical support throughout the games,” Hon. Basalirwa said.

He also revealed that all sports fixtures will be released soon, with free public admission to encourage community involvement and regional unity.

At the end of the Joint Planning Committee session held in Kampala, delegations from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) confirmed full participation. This year’s games will run under the theme:

“One Region, One Community: Advancing Integration through Parliaments and Sports.” he added

Uganda’s Parliament, the defending champion, expressed confidence in maintaining its dominance.

“We cannot afford to lose on home soil. Even with the national electoral calendar approaching, our teams are training intensively to remain on top.”Basalirwa vowed.

Kenya’s delegation, led by Hon. Vincent Kawaya, announced that both the National Assembly and Senate will compete in all eight sporting disciplines.

“We plan to take as many trophies as possible. We know our Ugandan hosts are busy preparing for elections, but what matters most is the unity and friendship these games promote.” Kawaya said with a smile.

South Sudan’s representatives commended Uganda’s efficient organisation and confirmed participation in all events, while the EALA Secretariat urged East Africans to attend in large numbers.

“These games belong to the people. They are a platform to deepen, widen, and strengthen the bonds of regional integration through teamwork, competition, and shared identity.” the Secretariat noted.

With the flags of all seven EAC partner states expected to fly high in Kampala next month, Uganda is set to transform its capital into a hub of sportsmanship, unity, and East African pride.
