The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Mr. Ben Kumumanya has urged Local Government Communication Officers to enhance their presence and contribution to national development through effective communication. He highlighted that there are positive developments within the government, such as improved educational facilities, health centers, recruitment efforts, and road infrastructure projects. He provided an example of Kalaki and Terego districts that have established magnificent administrative blocks to provide office space, which he says, is worthy reporting.

He made these remarks this morning while opening a meeting of Local Government Communication Officers held at the Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala. The meeting aims to develop a roadmap and action plan on how to use effective communication for national development.

He also noted that Communication Officers are among the 15 key officers/cadres that local governments should prioritize for recruitment, including the 9 Heads of Department , Head of Internal Audit, Head of Procurement, PHRO, Water Department, and Secretary to the Service Commission.

He also indicated that the issue of budgeting will be raised during the next meeting of Local Government Accounting officers.
