Mawokota Ssaza has officially unveiled its strong squad for the 2025 Masaza Cup, ahead of their campaign to lift the coveted trophy.
The team, led by County Chief Owek Sarah Nanono Kaweesi, showcased its talented players and technical team to fans and well-wishers on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Buwama Community playground.
In a friendly match against 2022 Masaza Cup champions Busiro, Mawokota played out a 1-1 draw. Busiro took the lead through Lubega Isma’s beautifully taken free kick, but Mawokota equalized through Ssentongo Akabaru’s penalty spot conversion.
The Mawokota squad boasts experienced players with high-quality talent, including five players from last year’s defending champions Buddu: Abubuker Egesa, Akram Katende, Puis Ssebulime, Ayiman Twaha, and Owen Rusongeza. Other notable players include:

The team has a new tactician in David Katono Mutono, who replaces Steven Bogere and Brian Sssenyondo. Mutono’s assistants include Hamidu Kibirango and Ismail Afani, with Ali Kiggundu as the goalkeepers’ coach and Harunah Kyobe as the team manager. Robert Ssemwogerere will chair the committee, with Vipers SC President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa serving as the patron.
2025 Masaza Cup Campaign
Mawokota will start their 2025 Masaza Cup campaign against Buwekula at Buwekula Ssaza ground on June 29. They are in the Masengere group with Buwekula, Kyadondo, Bugerere, Buvuma, and Bulemeezi. With a strong coaching staff in place, Mawokota is set to make a strong bid for the title.
