Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) top management on Monday surprised Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago with a warm birthday celebration during a scheduled top management meeting held at the Mayor’s Parlor.
The surprise, led by KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki and other senior directors, came a day after Lukwago marked his 55th birthday on May 11. The team presented a specially made cake and a bouquet of flowers to the visibly moved Mayor, recognizing his continued service and leadership to the city.
Speaking during the brief ceremony, Executive Director Buzeki noted that the gesture was a token of appreciation for the Lord Mayor’s longstanding commitment to the city and his collaboration with the technical wing.
“A good relationship between the political leadership and the technical team is critical for quality service delivery. we celebrate the Lord Mayor not only for his birthday but also for the role he continues to play in transforming Kampala,” Buzeki said.
Lord Mayor Lukwago, who has held the position since 2011, is the longest-serving Mayor in the history of Kampala. In his remarks, he thanked the KCCA team for the surprise and emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in delivering services to the residents of Kampala.
“This moment is deeply humbling. I thank you all for the love and for your dedication to making Kampala a better city. It is through teamwork that we shall continue to achieve our goals,” Lukwago said.
The light-hearted celebration underscored the improving working relationship between the political and technical leadership at KCCA a dynamic often seen as central to the city’s ongoing development initiatives.
