The Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), Brig Gen Henry Isoke, has urged senior police officers to uphold integrity and lead by example in the national fight against corruption.
He made the remarks during a lecture delivered at the Uganda Police Training Facility in Kikandwa on Monday morning.
The lecture was attended by officers from the Criminal Investigations Directorate, Professional Standards Unit, and the Canine Unit.
Brig Gen Isoke emphasized that police investigators are the bedrock of public safety and justice, warning that any trace of corruption within their ranks severely erodes public trust in law enforcement. He called on officers to commit to professionalism, serve selflessly, and maintain the highest standards of integrity to improve the public image of the Uganda Police Force.
Reinforcing President Yoweri Museveni’s repeated call for integrity among public servants, Gen Isoke underscored the ideological foundation of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), built on four core principles: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, social-economic transformation, and democracy.
He also applauded the Commander of the Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for his strong stance against corruption in the military, which, he noted, has helped the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) maintain its reliability and reputation across the region.
Brig Gen Isoke thanked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director of CID for organizing ideological training sessions aimed at instilling discipline and ethical values in officers.
In his closing remarks, the SH-ACU boss urged detectives to become role models in the anti-corruption crusade, stating, “Criminal Investigators are pillars upon which the country rests. If we are clean, corruption can easily be defeated.” He further called for strengthened cooperation between SH-ACU and the police, advocating for a united front among anti-corruption agencies.
Gen Isoke was accompanied by D/SSP Fred Lumala, the Unit’s Head of Investigations. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the training facility’s Commandant, ACP Doka Ramadan.
