The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Rubongi Cantonment has received five newly constructed aqua toilets as part of an initiative aimed at enhancing sanitation standards within the military establishment. This is the first phase of the project, supported by the operational strategic leadership.
The Cantonment Commander, Brig Gen Robert Rutainama, expressed gratitude to Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the initiative while emphasising the importance of improving water and sanitation facilities given the significant population residing within the barracks.
Brig Gen Rutainama pledged to work with leadership to secure additional resources for renovating accommodation facilities to enhance the welfare of troops and their families.
He commended the construction committee, led by Lt Eng Aloyscious Kamulegeya, for their diligence and commitment to delivering quality work within a short timeframe.
Rubongi Cantonment is home to seven units and plays a critical role in ensuring the security of the Bukedi sub-region, including border areas in Busia and Tororo districts, as part of the 3 Infantry Division in Eastern Uganda.
