The Kajansi Police Division has launched a full-scale investigation into a case of aggravated robbery that occurred on the evening of April 11, 2025, in Lweza Cell A, Ndejje Division, within Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the incident happened at approximately 6:20 PM outside N & M Unisex Salon, when two unidentified assailants riding a red Haojue motorcycle (Reg. UGG 774A) attacked a Toyota Premio (Reg. UBE 079Z) that was parked at the scene.
Armed with an AK-47 rifle, the suspects reportedly smashed the vehicle’s windows and made off with two bags belonging to the victim.
During their escape, the robbers allegedly shot and injured two individuals, identified as Tumwesigye Peter (27), a boda boda rider, and Abdul Swabur (18). Both were rushed to Mildmay Hospital, with Swabur later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further management.
In response, a joint effort by boda boda riders, concerned citizens, and police officers led to the pursuit and fatal apprehension of one of the suspects, while the second assailant fled the scene and remains at large.
Police recovered several items during the operation, including: An AK-47 rifle, the red Haojue motorcycle, one cartridge, a national identity card (believed to belong to the deceased suspect), two mobile phones, a red bag used to conceal the firearm and a black bag with a ring spanner, which was identified by the victim
Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement agencies intensify efforts to apprehend the second suspect.
“We appreciate the vigilance of the community in this matter,” said ASP Owoyesigyire. “However, we urge the public to always allow due process and avoid taking the law into their own hands.”
