President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday welcomed His Excellency General Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria, at State House Entebbe.
The visit marks a significant step in deepening the relationship between Uganda and Nigeria, with both leaders discussing crucial matters concerning regional security and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, President Museveni and H.E. Gen. Obasanjo engaged in extensive talks on the current security situation in the region, exploring ways to enhance peace and stability through stronger regional cooperation. The leaders acknowledged the importance of continued dialogue and efforts to address security challenges affecting the East African region and beyond.
A major focus of the discussions was also the potential for expanding trade ties, particularly in the dairy sector. President Museveni emphasized Uganda’s growing opportunities for agricultural collaboration with Nigeria, particularly in dairy farming, and highlighted the importance of leveraging these opportunities for mutual growth.
President Museveni expressed his appreciation for the continued partnership with Nigeria and extended a warm welcome to H.E. Gen. Obasanjo, reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration between the two nations.

We discussed the security situation in the region and H.E was here to follow up on trade opportunities between Uganda and Nigeria, particularly in the dairy sector. I would like to extend a warm welcome to him.” he posted on his official X platform on Monday
The visit comes at a time when both Uganda and Nigeria are working to build stronger diplomatic and economic ties, with a focus on trade, security, and cultural exchange.
