Artist Big Eye Declares Nansana MP Bid
Renowned artist Ibrahim Mayanja, popularly known as Big Eye Starboss, has officially announced his intention to contest for the Nansana Municipality MP seat in the upcoming 2026–2031 general elections.
In this political race, Big Eye will compete against the incumbent MP, Hon. Hannington Wakayima Musoke, and news anchor Zambali Bulasio Mukasa. The three aspirants will first battle for the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket before proceeding to the general election.
While commenting on Big Eye’s political aspirations, veteran comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi shared his own experience, revealing why he did not contest for the same parliamentary seat in the last general election.
Amooti explained that when he initially expressed interest in running for office, he discovered that NUP had already granted its party ticket to another candidate. Faced with this hurdle, he considered running as an independent candidate with the ‘Mushroom’ as his symbol. However, after much reflection, he realized that it would not be the best choice for his political ambitions, ultimately deciding to stay out of the race.
“If Big Eye is serious about contesting for the Nansana Municipality MP seat, let him come forward. If elected, I believe he will be in a position to help address some of the challenges we are facing,” Amooti stated.
He went on to offer advice to Big Eye, urging him to carefully study and understand the difficulties affecting the people of Nansana so that he can craft a clear and effective manifesto. Additionally, Amooti encouraged Big Eye to find ways of supporting residents in Lubigi, as well as those whose homes were destroyed by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
With his declaration, Big Eye joins the growing list of entertainers and public figures venturing into politics, hoping to bring change to their communities through leadership.
