AFRICAN PRESIDENTS IN UGANDA FOR THE AU EXTRAORDINARY SUMMIT ON AGRICULTURE.

Several African Presidents have arrived in Uganda to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). The summit, taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, kicked off on 9th January 2025 and it will end on 11th January, 2025.

Those that have arrived  include: The President of Angola, H.E Joào Lourenço who was received by the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth, the president of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E Taye Atske Selassie who was also received by the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth and Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the AU and IGAD, Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo among other government officials.

CAADP is established on four pillars namely: Extending the area under sustainable land management and reliable water control systems, Improving rural infrastructure and trade-related capacities for market access, Increasing food supply and reducing hunger, and  Agricultural research, technology dissemination and adoption. The theme for this year’s extra ordinary summit is “Sustainable and Resilient Agri-food Systems for a Healthy and Prosperous Africa.”
