TikToker Jailed for Alleged Hate Speech Against First Family, Speaker
A 27-year-old shoe hawker and TikToker will spend the festive season in Kigo Prison after Entebbe Senior Magistrate Grade one, Edgar Tibayeita Tusiime further remanded him until January 10, 2025 when he will reappear in court for further hearing and bail application.
Juma Musuuza, aka Madubarah who has been on remand for weeks is accused of spreading hate speech and malicious information about the first family and Parliament Speaker, Anita Among.
Mr Tibayeta sent Musuuza back on remand because the trial magistrate, Stella Maris Amabilis, who is the Entebbe Chief Magistrate was indisposed to hear the bail application he filed a week ago.
Court heard that in October 2024, Musuuza through his TikTok account, Madubarah UG shared information which is likely to ridicule, degrade or demean Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who serves as CDF and Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
“If Museveni hands over power to his drunkard son, the country will be destroyed within two days. Let Ugandans pray for our country and ourselves,” prosecution quotes the youthful shoe hawker as saying in one of the videos the State intends to use as evidence.
The prosecution evidence before court further indicate that Mussuza in the same month recorded himself saying Speaker Among; “Used tax payers’ money to build a mansion which is better than State House and to buy bleaching jelly (chemicals).”
