Alien Skin, Bodyguard Granted UGX 1M Cash Bail in Theft and Assault Case

Musician Patrick Mulwana, known by his stage name Alien Skin, has been granted bail by the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The artist had been remanded since November 20th on charges including theft, assault, and causing grievous harm. He was accused of stealing an iPhone 15 Pro, Shs480,000, and a wallet, in addition to allegedly assaulting hospital staff at Nsambya Hospital over a dispute involving the death of a close friend.

The court granted him a cash bail of Shs1 million, with each of his sureties bonded at Shs5 million (non-cash). The bail conditions also stipulated that Alien Skin must seek court approval if he intends to leave Uganda during the ongoing case. His bodyguard, Julius Mugabi, who is also facing related charges, was granted similar bail terms.

While appearing for the bail ruling on the case of causing grievous harm, the musician’s lawyers stated that the plaintiff and defendant had agreed to an out of court settlement. He proceeded to ask the presiding Magistrate Her Worship Esther Adikini to guide on the matter. Bail was granted and the case adjourned to January 13th, 2025.

Meanwhile, for the case involving theft the same court agreed to bail on similar terms.

Alien’s sureties included his mother, Juliet Nanyanzi, his younger brother, Nsubuga, and Alia, a journalist from Ssanyuka TV.

The case has drawn considerable public attention, with Alien Skin’s supporters gathering outside the courtroom in large numbers. The trial has sparked a debate about the artist’s conduct and his influence within the entertainment industry, as the charges have raised questions about his behavior both publicly and privately.

The confrontation at Nsambya Hospital reportedly occurred when Alien Skin and his associates were denied documents concerning the death of their friend. The artist and his bodyguard previously both denied the charges, emphasizing their right to mourn.
