KIU Unveils $60M State-of-the-Art Health Facility

As part of Kampala International University 25 years anniversary celebrations of impactful existence nears, Management has planned amega launch of state of art modern health facility and library at KIU western Campus in IShaka Bushenyi District next year.

Officiating at the 30th graduation ceremony on Saturday where atotal of 2,276 graduated in different discipline, KIU Chairman Al-Hajj Hassan Basajjabalaba told thousands of delegates, students and parents that the facility will cost $60million.

“As we prepare to celebrate 25 years of Kampala International University
impactful existence next year we look back with gratitude and a renewed resolve to our motto of Exploiting the Heights,” Basajjabalaba said.

Established in 2001 the university has stayed true to its musdion statement to respond to societal needs by designing and delivering on education guided by the principles and values of respect for society, economy and environment.

KIU was the first among private universities in Uganda and entire East Africa region to establish a medical school in 2002 at its Western Campusin Ishaka Bushenyi District.

Since 2009 KIU has graduated hundreds of doctors frim. Various countries including Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, Zambia, South Africa, Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Liberia and Pakistani

After Mulago National referral hospital, KIU has second largest teaching hospital in Uganda.

Prof Muhammed Ngoma Vice-Chancellor cautioned graduands to take advantage of all opportunities available other limiting themselves to their professions in the job market.

” I encourage you to think outside the box, seize opportunities when you find them, and dedicate yourself to lifelong learning it’s truly important,” Ngoma said

Dr Chris Baryomunsi ICT and National Guidance Minister speaking as Chief guest thanked Al-Hajj Hassan Basajjabalaba for his contributions towards social economic transformation of education sector saying when NRM government took over power there was only one Public University however when government rolled out liberalisation of the education sector enabled private sector to invest into tge sector resulting into massive enrollment and uptake of tertairy education.

“We thank KIU for training many our workforce especially doctors, lawyers and ICT professionals. As Minister responsible for ICT, i pledge commitment to support the university by making investment environment favourable and policies friendly,” he said.

Baryomunsi asked the university to embrace AI to make teaching practices cost effective in the digital era.

“The World has changed
For any skill it has to be embedded with technology to improve efficiency. Its on this basis that government is working on business outsourcing process to offer opportunities for young generation acquire jobs without travelling out tge country, “he explained.
