IS BOBI WINE ABUSIVE TONGUE A SHOCKER OR A SYCHOPATH LUCIDITY?
For a long time, the public has been treated to a tirade of abuses by Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, directed at the president and first family more so the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The First family abuses have come to be portrayed as part of his manifesto. During his one on one interviews and public rallies, it is hard to pick any public policy agenda, but rather the only take home are abuses he lashes at the first family.
The intriguing question on people’s mind is, does the abusive tongue surprise anyone or is it a true reflection of who Bobi wine is? Taking a critical analysis of who and what he is, wouldn’t it be a shocker if he behaved differently exhibiting some level of civility? Does he find himself diabolic in character or that is the true him? This calls for close introspection into his cognitive faculties to articulate policy issues, given his social and education background. In his interviews, he does not come off as one who is grounded in any public policy issues, fiscal policy or monetary issues, the nexus between politics and economics.
His copious ineptitude was palpable in international media, where twice the interviews had to be truncated to save him the embarrassment of international ridicule. He was too clueless answering questions of what he thought should have been asked instead. The host was transfixed by his lack of basic knowledge and ended the interview prematurely.
At home, he can afford to filibuster the national debate by being too evasive to scrutiny of what he knows, what he wants to do with power and how to do it. He achieves this by being abusive to whoever tries to interrogate his policy agenda. Of late he avoids one on one interviews because they expose his underbelly in articulation of policy issues, instead he prefers to make unguarded outbursts on public rallies or on social media where his gullible and fanatic buffs don’t question his chicanery.
To engage in a public spat with a person who is absent and not involved in any altercation, is a sign of poor character arising from shaky upbringing. In one of his slanted outbursts, he said that if statehouse cannot come to the ghetto, then the ghetto will go to statehouse. This is clear acknowledgement of his psyche about leadership and how, despite his current position, he still acts and nurses the ghetto mentality. Of course, he may be excused, “old habits die long”.
It will take long to polish his character to acceptable levels as a worth leader. One wonders, does he have advisors or the quality of advisors is the same as the advised! Does he think he can win support in a society that attaches premium respect to positions of authority? The president by any sense, is the fountain of honour. To excoriate him publically as Bobi wine does using expletives to describe him is a show of deficiency in scruples.
When he was in Luweero, during the last round of his campaign tour of central, he used explicit lewd language that involved the mother of the president, cast aspersions on the parentage of some members of the first family, called them foreigners, an expression of tribalism. He blatantly called on his supporters to shun people from other regions and tribes. Sadly, his crowd cheered him on as he degenerated into a public pariah.
Psychologists have described people like these as psychopaths. It is a personality disorder that comes from poor socialization, it does not respect structures, established norms or societal values. Bobi wine fits this bill squarely. He has a checkered ghetto upbringing where disorder is the order, respect is a rare commodity, values are defined by drugs and thuggery, violence is a virtue and wisdom of the elders is a burden.
So Bobi wine lives his past, it takes eons to transform such a person, more so if he still cherishes his past by keeping the old ghetto buddies like Nubian Li and Eddie Mutwe as the best advisors. To transform, he needs new advisors who can prime his proficiency in areas of public speech, national and international posturing. What should be said at home and the international level, the diction and oratory,he lacks all this. Rambling, mumbling and stuttering anything on a public podium only brings out the unrefined and the rough edges of his persona.
As a political neonate, he needs to pick lessons from other leaders at the international level who have captivated the imagination of their audiences, who have ideas to offer and alternative policy agenda to effect them. You cannot remain a villager at international level.
The biggest challenge to wine Bobi wine is that he is impervious to knowledge. No amount of tutorials can cause the required change. He is so grounded in Ghetto culture, any new ideas are repulsive and misfits, otherwise his recent association with refined politicians like Ssegona, Mpuuga, Bwanika would have had a positive effect on his character
