Kisoro District Elects Akifeza Ngabirano in Landmark By-Election Victory

Kisoro District has spoken. Independent candidate, NRM leaning Grace Akifeza Ngabirano won the Kisoro District Woman Representative by-election with an impressive 50,459 votes.

In a race that saw six candidates vying for the seat, Akifeza led by a substantial margin over her closest competitor, NRM’s Rose Kabagyeni, who secured 44,982 votes.

The election saw a total of 98,117 ballots counted, with only 1,061 invalid votes, reflecting an informed electorate actively participating in shaping their leadership.

In the Kisoro District Woman Representative by-election, the final vote count for each candidate was as follows:

  • Grace Akifeza Ngabirano (Independent): 50,459 votes
  • Rose Kabagyeni (NRM): 44,982 votes
  • Aisha Cympake (PPP): 157 votes
  • Mable Ingabire (UPC): 362 votes
  • Juliet Musanase (FDC): 193 votes
  • Sultana Salim Zubedi (NUP): 903 votes

The total number of ballots counted was 98,117, with 1,061 invalid votes and 249 spoiled ballots. These numbers indicate a strong turnout and a fairly low invalidation rate, suggesting that voters were largely engaged and informed in casting their ballots.

With this result, Kisoro District has signaled a clear demand for quality and capability in leadership, showing that voters are making choices based on individual values and vision, not just party lines.
