Crocodile Attack Claims Woman’s Life at Ntuuwa Beach, Kalangala
A recent tragedy on Ntuuwa Beach, located on Bunjazi Island in Kalangala District, has left residents in shock after a crocodile attacked and killed a woman fetching water.
This is not an isolated incident, as crocodile attacks have increasingly terrorized the local community, putting both adults and children at risk.
Residents report that the crocodiles, which inhabit the shores, have also preyed on livestock, such as goats and other animals, leading to significant fear among the population.
Local leaders, including area councillor Veronica Nakasiita, have raised concerns and appealed to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) for intervention, expressing worry that the crocodiles might target children next as they often play near the shoreline.
Previously, UWA has been urged to act on similar incidents in the area, including other recent attacks on fishermen.
The community is urging district authorities and wildlife officials to address this escalating danger and ensure the safety of residents. They are calling for more robust measures to control the crocodile population along the beach to prevent further loss of life and livestock
