ISO’s Col Katabazi Vows to Combat PDM Corruption in Kalangala
The Deputy Director General of Internal Security Organization Col Emmy Katabazi has pledged to fight all forms of PDM related corruption in Kalangala district and the country at large.
He said that PDM funds are meant for the poorest, however, the people meant to deliver the funds to the beneficiaries are asking for bribes and spending their money.
“Every year, the NRM government releases Ugx 100 million to give 100 people in each parish at district level. That means in five years, the money should have multiplied to Ugx 500 million. This money is meant for the poorest, but the PDM committee asks for a bribe before giving a beneficiary money. Some of them ask for a bribe of about Ugx 200,000. This is simply unacceptable,” Col Katabazi said.
To combat corruption in PDM, Col Katabazi said that ISO has developed a system known as the Zaidi App that is meant to capture all beneficiaries’ data, which will help the government monitor the progress of the funds.
“If someone is planning to grow cassava, the ISO district leadership will go to their home, capture their address, names, and even where the enterprise will be situated,” he added.
The ISO boss said this during his speech as the guest of honor at the Thanksgiving ceremony of the newly appointed Kalangala Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Fred Badda, on September 10, 2024, in Kalangala district.
He also urged the people of Kalangala and the entire country to respect the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mwenda Mutebi, stressing that he is an important element of Uganda.
Additionally, he called upon the Regional Internal Security Officer in charge of South Buganda, Lt Moses Ssekibuule, to work with the Catholic church and all clergy and the Kabaka to develop Kalangala District and South Buganda.
He called upon the newly appointed RDC, Baddu, to make sure that the will of NRM succeeds in Kalangala district without fear or favor.
“You were appointed to make sure the will of NRM is put in place. The will of NRM is Patriotism, Nationalism, Pan-Africanism and Social Economic Transformation,” he said.
