NRM Deputy SG Namayanja Calls Tasks Youth on Personal Economic Empowerment
The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, has urged youth leaders to focus their energy on personal growth and economic well-being. Namayanja made this call on Thursday, August 29th, while addressing a gathering of over 400 young leaders in Bukakala village, Semuto Sub-county, Nakaseke District.
“As future national leaders, the choices you make today will shape your future. Your involvement in wealth creation is not just about improving your current circumstances; it’s about securing a prosperous future for yourselves and future generations,” Namayanja stressed.
She highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering young people through initiatives like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, with 30% of the funds allocated specifically for youth investments.
“We are dedicated to providing you with the resources and expertise necessary to start small businesses and develop sustainable, innovative ideas,” Namayanja assured, emphasizing the government’s focus on youth development.
Namayanja also encouraged the youth to unite and actively participate in government programs such as the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, and other initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty in their communities.
“These programs are designed to empower you, regardless of political affiliation or differences. Use them to fight poverty and drive the positive change you want to see in your communities,” she urged, calling for collective efforts toward national development.
Rosemary Byabashaija, the RDC of Nakaseke District, echoed Namayanja’s sentiments, emphasizing that the government’s poverty alleviation programs are meant to uplift the most vulnerable Ugandans, particularly those living below the poverty line.
Byabashaija warned against any form of extortion or unauthorized fees imposed on beneficiaries, stating that each beneficiary is entitled to the full one million shillings as intended.
“As a government, we take the issue of PDM fund extortion very seriously,” Byabashaija said. “We have already made arrests, and thorough investigations will be conducted to ensure those responsible are held accountable, maintaining the integrity of the program.”
The event concluded with a testimonial from Mr. Nicholas Brain, a youth leader from Wakyato Parish, who expressed gratitude to Namayanja for her leadership and steadfast commitment to youth empowerment. He urged his peers to heed the government’s message, emphasizing that their future depends on their own actions and proactive participation in national initiatives.
