Owobusobozi Donates UGX 800 Million to Support Kiteezi Landfill Slide Victims
The Faith of Unity has donated items worth UGX 800 million to the Ugandan government to support disaster relief efforts for those affected by the Kiteezi Landfill slide.
The donation was made by Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka, the leader and founder of the Faith of Unity, based in Kapyemi, Kagadi District.
The handover event was attended by several government officials, including the Third Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakaddama, who represented the government, the Minister of Kampala Metropolitan, Hon. Minsa Kabanda, and the dean of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and RDC of Wakiso, Justin Mbabazi.
On Tuesday, in Kiteezi, Wakiso, Owobusobozi Bisaka expressed gratitude to President Museveni and the Ugandan government for the peace and freedom that have enabled the followers of the Faith of Unity to work hard. He stated that this environment of peace is the reason the Faith of Unity is able to extend relief to the people affected by the Kiteezi disaster.
The donated items include 50 tonnes of cassava, 18 tonnes of groundnuts, 6 tonnes and 600 kg of rice, cows worth UGX 10 million, 18 tonnes of maize flour, and 30 tonnes of cassava flour, among other items.
Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakaddama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister, expressed her appreciation to Owobusobozi Bisaka for the substantial donation to the people of Kiteezi.
She assured the public that the government is committed to supporting the affected people and mentioned that plans are underway to provide land for their resettlement.
Hon. Minsa Kabanda, the Minister of Kampala Metropolitan, also thanked Owobusobozi Bisaka for the generous donation and for his support of President Museveni.
