Bishop Emeritus Niringiye Attackers Arrested

Police have confirmed the arrest of assailants behind the robbery attack on Bishop Emeritus Zack Niringiye that occured last week.

Police spokesman ACP Ronald Kituuma announced the arrests to journalists during a press briefing on Monday, but didnt mention the exact number in their custody.

“The assailants are in police custody and all necessary action is underway to ensure that they are brought to book” he said

On 29th July, a viral video circulated social media platforms, showing the Bishop Emeritus lying helpless on the ground in his athletic wear, following a robbery incident.

The Police at Ntinda  confirmed that the incident happened while the Bishop was on his midday jog, as he approached Commercial Road, near Rock View Hotel

The Bishop a resident of Kimera Road, Village 12, Ntinda Parish, was attacked by suspects riding on a motorcycle.

Luke Owoyesigyire Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson confirmed that the assailants allegedly struck him with a blunt object, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground.

During the attack, his iPhone 13 Pro Max was stolen.

He said Bishop Niringiye was taken to a nearby clinic and later discharged.
