What to Expect as Kitgum Hosts 38th UPDF Tarehe Sita Celebrations

The UPDF will hold main activities in Acholi Sub region to mark the 38th Tarehe Sita Anniversary and most importantly thank the people for their support in bringing peace to the Country.

The celebrations will be held under the theme, “UPDF and the People: Consolidating Peace for Sustainable Development and Prosperity”.

During the Army week commencing on 29th January 2019, the UPDF medical and engineering teams will conduct symbolic civil military activities in all the districts of Acholi sub-region namely: Agago, Amuru, Gulu, Kitgum, Lamwo, Nwoya, Omoro and Pader.

The rest of the UPDF formations and units will carry out other tasks in support of the local communities in their areas of operation.

The people living in the mentioned areas are encouraged to take full advantage of these services.

The program

National Launch: On Tuesday 29th January 2019 at 1000hrs at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF HQs Mbuya.

Regional Launch: On Thursday 31st January 2019 at Kitgum District Headquarters. c. District Launches: On Friday 1st February 2019 at the headquarters of Agago, Amuru, Gulu, Lamwo, Nwoya, Omoro and Pader Districts.

Main celebrations: On Wednesday 6th February 2019 at Kitgum Core Primary Teachers College Grounds – Kitgum Municipality.
