Beauty and Culture: Bushenyi Hosts Miss Tourism Ankole 2024-2025 Crowning

The evening of July 20, 2024, will be etched in the memories of the people of Bushenyi Town for a long time. The occasion was the crowning of Miss Tourism Ankole 2024-2025, an event that brought together the who’s who of the district, including Hon. Annet Katusime, the Woman MP of Bushenyi District, and Dr. Silver Mugisha.

Held in the heart of Bushenyi Town, the event celebrated beauty, culture, and tourism. Contestants showcased their talents, intelligence, and passion for Ankole tourism. Ms. Birungi Shanne from Mbarara City emerged victorious, impressing judges with her poise, confidence, and regional tourism knowledge. The first runner-up was Abaho Abigail, with Banny Shadia as the second runner-up, both demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication.

The event was graced by Hon. Annet Katusime, the Woman MP of Bushenyi District, who emphasized  the importance of tourism in the region’s economic development. Dr. Silver Mugisha, a renowned expert in tourism, also attended the event, sharing insights into the industry’s potential and challenges.

The crowning of Miss Tourism Ankole 2024-2025 marked a significant milestone in the region’s efforts to promote tourism. The event highlighted the beauty and diversity of Ankole’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, and warm hospitality.

As the newly crowned queen, Ms. Birungi Shanne, prepares to take on her responsibilities, the people of Bushenyi Town and the Ankole region at large look forward to a year of promoting tourism and showcasing the region’s hidden gems.

The Three ladies will be representing their region at the national level where they will compete with all the regional winners for the title of Miss Tourism Uganda due to take place on 14th September at Kampala Serena Hotel where the grand finale will be staged.

The event was a resounding success, thanks to the organisers, sponsors, and participants who worked tirelessly to make it a memorable night. As the Ankole region continues to grow and develop its tourism industry, the Miss Tourism Ankole pageant will undoubtedly play a vital role in promoting the region’s unique attractions and cultural heritage.
