Musana Community Organisation Opens New Health Facility in Kamuli
Musana Community Organisation inaugurated its new health facility, Musana Community Health Centre Kamuli, on Saturday in Kamuli Municipality.
This centre, situated in the Industrial Area of the Southern Division of Kamuli Municipality, aims to enhance the health status of Kamuli and the broader Busoga region by providing comprehensive healthcare services.
Mr. Isabirye Arilu Kazindula, Chief Administration Officer of Musana Community Organisation, emphasized that the facility embodies their mission to foster a community free from dependence and full of dignity.
He highlighted that this initiative falls under their health sector, one of their three core values, alongside education and socio-economic development.
“This facility is a representation of our mission at Musana. Our goal is to create a community that is free from dependence and full of dignity. We achieve this by implementing sustainable initiatives that empower people to become self-reliant,” Mr. Kazindula stated. “Our work focuses on three core areas: Education, Health, and Socio-economic Development in Uganda, particularly in Kamuli and Kaliro. We are committed to providing quality services to the Busoga community.”
Owekitiibwa Birungi Shirah Gandi, the Minister for Health in Busoga Kingdom, pledged that the kingdom would mobilize the community to utilize these services, aligning with their mandate.
“Busoga Kingdom’s primary mandate is community mobilization for service uptake, ensuring that our people receive better services. We will continue collaborating with development partners to improve the lives of our people,” said Mrs. Gandi.
Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister for Health, conveyed her message through Dr. Alex Wasomoka, Assistant Commissioner and Director of Hospitals and Lower Health Facilities from the Ministry of Health. She commended Musana Community Organisation for their efforts in providing quality healthcare to Kamuli residents, who previously had to travel long distances for such services. She also noted the job creation benefits of the new facility and encouraged the community to fully utilize it.
In addition, Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, attended the event. She expressed frustration over the lack of response from the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, regarding her letters about the Buwooya Health Centre III in Bugulumbya Sub County, Kamuli District, which was destroyed by heavy rainfall in 2021.
“I have written several letters to the Health Minister reporting the condition of Buwooya Health Centre III. For three years, people have been without healthcare services, but I have yet to receive a reply or even an acknowledgment,” Hon. Kadaga stated
