Wazalendo SACCO Meets Ugandan Troops In Somalia And DRC

The Board of Directors of Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society has completed a 10-day mobilisation drive in mission areas of Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Brig Gen Anthony Mbuusi Lukwago, Commander of Sector One troops under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), commended the SACCO’s leadership for developing products that enhance the welfare of troops. “Your engagement with us has enhanced our understanding of the SACCO and given us the chance to contribute ideas that will be of value in improving service delivery,” said Brig Gen Mbuusi.

According to Lt Col Allan Kitanda, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, who led the team to Somalia, the mobilisation drive aimed to update, educate, and inform members on the SACCO’s progress and gather feedback to improve service delivery. “Through these interactions, we have been able to reach out to our members in most of the forward bases and we have been able to get vital feedback which will guide our decision making since members are the owners of the SACCO,” said Lt Col Kitanda.

The team in Somalia, led by Lt Col Kitanda, interacted with troops at Sector One headquarters, the United Nations Guard Unit, and Forward Operating Bases, while Col Dan Tizihwayo led a team to the Democratic Republic of Congo, visiting UPDF troops under Operation Shujaa in different sectors and the Mountain Division headquarters in Fort Portal City.
