NRM SG Todwong Urges University Leaders to Emulate Museveni’s Patience and Integrity

University leaders have been advised to exercise patience in their leadership, an attribute exemplified by NRM Chairman and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

This advice was given by NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong during a one-day training session for university guild leaders on patriotism and good governance among young people, held at Makerere University.

The training was organized by the Directorate of Youth and Institutions at the NRM Secretariat.

“The 38 years of NRM are not by mistake. Our leader, President Museveni, is always very patient and consultative to ensure good decisions. This is a lesson you should learn today: not to panic,” Todwong said.

“This is how we have avoided mistakes that befall other countries,” he added.

Todwong urged the university leaders to always read and stay informed. “Read about societal dynamics and how communities develop to modernity,” he said.

He emphasized discipline, humility, and respect for leaders and colleagues as fundamental to personal growth. “Be humble and flexible to fit into any environment after education,” he advised.

The Secretary General, who criticized corrupt government officials, urged the young people to shun such vices in their service.

“We should be bitter about the subject of corruption. Speak firmly against corruption. It is the biggest problem we have as a government, not the opposition. People are tired of us because of the stealing of public resources by a few. We need to advocate for a future where wearing yellow is admirable,” Todwong said.

The event was attended by the NRM Patron at Makerere University, Prof. Elia Hisali, among others.
