Katikiro Reveals Kabaka’s Health State Amid Extended Absence
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga has addressed the public on the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II ‘s health condition.
This follows the Kabaka’s notable absence from several key events in the Buganda Kingdom over the past months.
Among them include ; the Kabaka’s Birthday Run, his birthday celebrations, the Bika Cup Tournament finals, and the Masaza Cup finals, causing members of the public to express concern and seek clarity regarding his health condition.
The situation intensified when a photograph of the Kabaka in Namibia surfaced on social media, prompting widespread calls for an official update from Kingdom officials.
In response, a press briefing involving all key stakeholders was held at Bulange Mengo on Tuesday, where the Katikiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, addressed these concerns. He revealed that the Kabaka is currently in Namibia, following the recommendation of his German physicians.
“The Kabaka has been visiting various medical practitioners both within and outside the country to monitor his health for several years now. During his recent visit to Germany, he was advised to relieve himself of some duties and rest for a few months, as hard work was found to negatively impact his health,” the Katikiro explained.
He assured the public that the Kabaka’s condition is not worrying and emphasized the importance of relying solely on official communication from the Katikiro’s office regarding the King’s health.
The Katikiro and the Royal Family expressed gratitude to the people of Buganda for their patience and discipline during this period and urged everyone to refrain from spreading fake news aimed at promoting hatred.
The joint statement was signed by Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Prince Kintu David Wasajja on behalf of the Royal Family, and Namwama Augustine Kizito on behalf of the Bataka.
