Police Hunt for Suspect in Murder of Sex Worker at Namugongo Lodge

Police in Kampala are actively searching for an unidentified suspect accused of killing a 28-year-old sex worker at a lodge in Namugongo, Kira Division.

The deceased, identified as Arau Faridah, was a well-known sex worker operating in the Central Zone.

The tragic incident occurred at Vintage Bar and Lodge, where Arau had gone for a session with an unidentified customer.

According to KMP Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Arau and the suspect booked a room together on Saturday night.

On Sunday morning, a lodge employee performing room service noticed blood seeping from under the door. Upon opening the room, the staff discovered Arau lying on the ground with multiple wounds on her body. A blood-stained knife was also found at the scene.

The lodge workers immediately alerted the police, who arrived and documented the scene, collecting witness statements. Arau’s body was subsequently transferred to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Owoyesigyire noted the absence of CCTV cameras at the lodge, complicating efforts to identify the suspect or determine the exact circumstances leading to the murder. However, initial police investigations suggest that a dispute over money may have escalated into violence.

“The lack of surveillance footage presents a significant challenge, but we are determined to find the perpetrator,” Owoyesigyire stated. “We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.”

The police have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to bring the suspect to justice and ensure the safety and security of all residents in the area.
