Muslims Urged to Slaughter Animals for Eid-ul-Adha, Celebrate Prophet Ibrahim’s Sacrifice

Muslims across the country have been urged to slaughter animals during and after Eid-ul-Adha as it is clearly stipulated in the holy Quran.

The call was made on Friday at Uganda Muslim supreme council (UMSC) headquarters Kampala by the deputy director Sharia, Sheikh Salim Bbosa saying according to Islam Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah which means it will be celebrated on 16/06/2024.

He adds that Eid-ul-Adha is a significant religious holiday in Islam which specifically commemorates the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of obedience to God’s command

Sheikh Bbosa says to honor Ibrahim’s devotion, Muslims sacrifice an animal, usually a goat, sheep or and the meat is then divide among family, friends and the poor.

The celebration also marks the climax of Hajji, the pilgrimage to Mekkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia.

According to Sheikh Bbosa, Eid -ul-Adha national prayers will be led by the Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajja at Ghadafi national mosque old Kampala at exactly 8:00am.

“I urge all Muslims to recite only praising “ALLAH” specifically before Eid prayers and slaughter animals immediately after the same,”. Salim added.
