UPDF Officers Urged To Take Resource Management Serious
Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, Commander Land Force, admonished officers to take the management of allocated resources seriously, emphasising that it is crucial for the UPDF to fulfill its constitutional mandate and mission.
Lt Gen Muhanga made these remarks while presiding over the handover and takeover ceremony of the Chief of Staff – Land Force office at the Land Force Headquarters in Bombo.
Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, formerly Chief of Staff – Land Force, handed over the reins to Brig Gen Michael Kabango.
The Commander warned that mismanaging resources leads to command problems and ultimately disrupts daily army activities. He cautioned that officers would be held accountable by the leadership and Parliament, which allocates the resources.
Maj Gen Bakasumba expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for the opportunity to serve and their support, saying, “I will indeed remain indebted for all the guidance and support rendered to me in the execution of my duties.”
Brig Gen Kabango, the incoming Chief of Staff – Land Force, thanked the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the role and his predecessor for his mentorship.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including: Brig Gen Mwanje Ssekiranda Chief of Staff – Reserve Force, Brig Gen Dr. James Kiyengo Director of Medical Services, Brig Gen Richard Karemire Joint Staff Formal Education, Sports and Culture, Brig Gen Metland Bitumbika General Manager Defence Forces Shop Uganda Limited and other senior officers.
