Prime Minister Nabbanja Commissions 39km Road Project in Sironko District

The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah, has inaugurated the construction of the 39km Namagumba-Budadiri-Nalugugu Road in Sironko District.

The Premier was in Sironko to represent President Museveni at the World Environment Day celebrations.

According to Nabbanja, the project, estimated at 129 billion shillings, will be funded by the European Union, the World Bank, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. This budget includes the resettlement of affected persons and spans a duration of five years.

The Premier emphasized that once completed, the road will significantly enhance transport access in the area, linking the population to economic opportunities.

The construction works will be carried out by Shandong Luqiao, a Chinese company.

This project aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040, aiming to harness the country’s potential growth opportunities in agriculture, tourism, its strategic geographical location, and trade.

The groundbreaking ceremony was witnessed by ministers, area MPs, and local, opinion, and religious leaders.
