Two Suspects Arrested in Assault and Robbery Case in Kyebando
Police have issued a public statement regarding an ongoing investigation into a disturbing incident captured on CCTV footage.
The footage, circulating on social media, depicts the assault of a man identified as Mugisha Tomson, aged 40 and residing in Kyebando, by unidentified assailants. The attack took place on Ben Kiwanuka Street at approximately 8 PM on May 22nd, 2024.
According to police reports, during the incident, Mugisha was robbed of 450,000 UGX, a bag containing important documents, keys, and a container. In response, the Central Police Station in Kampala has initiated inquiries into the assault.
At present, two suspects have been identified and are cooperating with authorities in ongoing investigations. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend all individuals involved to ensure they face legal consequences.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer, emphasized the importance of public vigilance and urged individuals to remain mindful of their surroundings. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities promptly to the police to aid in crime prevention and community safety.
This incident follows a string of attacks on Ugandans in the past two months.
