UGX 10M Bounty for Arrest of University Lecturer in Aggravated Defilement Case

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) has announced a cash reward of UGX 10 million for anyone with credible information leading to the arrest of Dr. Aron Lawrence,56, who is accused of defiling a 16-year-old visually impaired girl.

Dr. Lawrence, who held the position of Dean at the Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation at Kyambogo University, allegedly exploiting his position in the “All we see is possibility” project to gain the trust of the victim.

Upon returning from caretaking four students, including his disabled victim, in Nairobi, Kenya, for a conference on December 10, 2023, Dr. Lawrence utilized his car, which had been left at the airport to provide transportation for the students. He dropped off two students from Gulu University at the Namayiba Taxi Park, from where they traveled to Gulu.

Subsequently, he proceeded to drop off the third student at North Hall, Kyambogo University. Following these drop-offs, Dr. Lawrence remained with the victim in the car. He drove her to Namugongo Nsawo village, Kira municipality and along the way she asked for water, which was bought at a supermarket along Ndagire road, in Nalya.

It is alleged that she victim fell unconscious after taking the water and only woke up in pain with signs of penetrative sexual assault.

Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police spokesman told journalists at their headquarters in Naguru that they have circulated Dr. Lawrence’s photograph and urge anyone with information to pass it to the nearest police station or contact CID Headquarters in Kibuli at 0741-111-333.

“It is believed that Dr. Lawrence may still be hiding within the country with the assistance of relatives and friends. The police have issued a warning that harboring or aiding his escape is a punishable offense.” he noted

Enanga emphasizes that there is no hiding place for wanted persons in Uganda and has urged Dr. Lawrence to turn himself in and defend himself against the allegations.

He notes that a wanted poster for Dr. Aron Lawrence is available on the police website and various social media platforms for anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact CID Headquarters immediately at 0741-111-333.
