Chinese National Arrested for Illegal Sale of Army Uniforms

Police at Kampala have arrested a 33 year old Chinese National forpossesion and dealing in government  property and army wear.

The suspect Jin Yungung, a resident of Ganda, Nansana, Wakiso District was netted following an intelligence led operation carried out by security  operatives on May 03, 2024.

He was found operating a shop  involved in the illegal sale of government property, specifically army uniforms, shoes, and gloves.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, revealed that  Yungung’s shop, located at Kasaga Shop No.14, was targeted following intelligence reports.

During the operation, significant quantities of military equipment resembling uniforms of the UPDF and SFC (Special Forces Command) were seized from the suspect’s premises.

Owoyesigyire said investigations uncovered that the suspect was collaborating with another person known as Frank, purportedly affiliated with the Special Forces Command(SFC), who provided the business idea and financing. To him.

He explains that Yungung admitted that some uniforms were sourced from Somalia.

Furthermore, it was discovered that Yungung entered Uganda as a tourist and renewed his visa periodically by traveling to neighboring countries.

He says the arrest underscores the serious nature of illicit activities carried out with government property and the procurement and trade of military gear.

Police are currently  hunting down other  suspects and accomplices to Yungung.
