Opposition Criticised for Prioritization of Politics Over Economic Hardships
State Minister of Finance, Henry Musasizi, rebuked the opposition for prioritizing politics over addressing the economic hardships faced by their supporters.
Musasizi, who also serves as the Rubanda East MP, delivered his remarks during the Send-off Ceremony of the late Dr. Pius Ruhemurana, former Mayor of Kabale Municipality.
Dr. Ruhemurana, a prominent member of the FDC, was eulogized by various leaders, including FDC representatives, who highlighted his commitment to peace and justice.
In response, Minister Musasizi criticized the opposition leaders for neglecting the importance of the peace established by the NRM Government.
He urged them to focus on supporting government programs aimed at improving the socio-economic welfare of Ugandans, emphasizing the need for unity in pursuing the common good, as exemplified by the late Ruhemurana’s leadership.
During Dr. Ruhemurana’s tenure as Mayor from 1996 to 2016, several development projects were initiated, including the ongoing USMID road construction projects.
Minister Musasizi underscored the collaborative efforts between the local government and the NRM administration in planning and implementing these projects.
Dr. Ruhemurana passed away at the age of 76 after battling a prolonged illness compounded by diabetes, hypertension, and stroke.
He is survived by his daughter, Joseline Ruhemurana.
The burial took place at his ancestral home in Kashumuruzo Village, Kitanga Parish, Kashambya Subcounty, Rukiga District.
