Detained Musician Fik Gaza Calls for Assistance Amid Visa Irregularities
Social media is abuzz with news of the arrest of rising artist Shafick Dangote, better known as Fik Gaza, who is currently detained in Saudi Arabia.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear, but preliminary information suggests that the Gaza Empire Crew boss was hired by a group of Ugandans living in the desert country to perform at a house party, an activity alleged to be illegal.
It is reported that Gaza entered the country as a visitor without the necessary credentials, such as a work permit, to legally perform there.
A video circulating on various social media platforms shows the ‘Banana’ singer appealing for help from what appears to be a detention facility, expressing his frustration with the authorities.
The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) has condemned Fik Gaza’s arrest, citing alleged visa irregularities and dress code violations.
They express concern for his well-being and urge Saudi authorities to swiftly resolve the matter and ensure his safe return home.
Additionally, they call upon the Ugandan government, specifically the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to intervene and secure Gaza’s release, engaging relevant diplomatic channels.
Prominent figures, including musician turned-politician Bobi Wine, have begun efforts to assist Gaza, with Bobi Wine acknowledging the need for collective action to support him. Entertainment analyst Eddie Ssendi has advised Ugandan artists to seek guidance before performing abroad to avoid similar situations in the future.
Ssendi empathizes with Gaza’s predicament, urging artists to consult knowledgeable individuals before accepting international performance offers.
He suggests seeking advice from experienced figures in the industry, such as the Leone Island boss, to navigate potential challenges while abroad.
