Katale Residents Protest Increased Garbage Disposal

The residents of Katale Bugema village are facing a critical environmental and health issue as a local land area has been transformed into a dumping site.

Residents of Katale Bugema village, also known as Lower Jomayi Estates in Wakiso District, are protesting against the increased dumping of garbage in their area.

The residents of Katale Bugema village are facing a critical environmental and health issue as a local land area has been transformed into a dumping site. Concerned about the impacts on their community, they have written a letter to their Local Council Chairman, Hajji Muyingo Musa, urging him to engage the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) for intervention.

The misuse of land, particularly near a swamp area, is causing significant distress among the villagers, as it not only poses health risks but also compromises the quality of their living environment.

By reaching out to their elected officials, the residents hope to catalyze collective action to promptly address and mitigate these threats.

“This not only poses severe health risks but also degrades our living environment,” the residents said in a letter signed by resident lawyer Kakooza Savio Ntensibe.
