President Museveni Encourages CID Officers on Patriotism, Prosperity
The President emphasized the need to prioritize patriotism over sectarianism based on religion or tribe.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has emphasized the significance of patriotism for the prosperity of Uganda during his address to officers of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) at State House-Entebbe. He stressed the importance of instilling a sense of patriotism among law enforcement officers and civil servants, highlighting its role in guiding their service to the nation.
Museveni recalled the historical mission established during their student movement days in the 1960s, focusing on the creation of prosperity for Ugandans through addressing fundamental needs such as food security, housing, healthcare, education, and market access. He underscored the importance of education in eradicating ignorance and superstition, thus enhancing prosperity.
Furthermore, the President emphasized the need to prioritize patriotism over sectarianism based on religion or tribe. He explained that emphasizing patriotism fosters unity and cooperation among Ugandans, transcending tribal divides and promoting national solidarity.
In addition to patriotism, Museveni outlined the principles of Pan-Africanism and strategic security as integral to Uganda’s development agenda. He highlighted the importance of regional integration and cooperation in addressing security challenges and leveraging African markets for economic growth.
The Director of CID, AIGP Tom Magambo, expressed gratitude to President Museveni for his guidance and outlined efforts undertaken by CID to align with the strategic priorities outlined by the President. These efforts include mindset change, strategic deployment of personnel, and enhancing public engagement through initiatives like the establishment of a call center.
AIGP Godfrey Golooba of the Uganda Police’s Human Resource Development department highlighted plans to enhance training facilities at Kabalye Police Training School to meet evolving needs and standards. This move reflects a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in law enforcement training.
